After three days of vacation, I honestly forgot how hard it was to work for five days straight. I felt completely energized and ready for the new week to come. With this in mind, I prepared for the day and headed to the Serials section. I was excited because today would be our last day in this section and we would be moving on to the archives the next day.
JUNE 27, 2017 - TUESDAY
I resumed the work I have left the week before. Today, we would be making the entire 25 hours we are required of by 1:00 PM. We were planning on leaving by 2:00 PM as we have other things to do as well. We made sure to greet everyone before turning on the computers, setting up the IPP website and indexing the final article of the magazine I have left. Once I finished it, I took more magazines to index. Browsing through the magazines and looking for index-able articles was the fun part of indexing because I get to read about interesting things while looking. I mostly indexed the Philippine Graphics magazine as there were a lot of it left. By the end of our morning shift, I managed to index the missing issues of this magazine to the IPP list.

The Life of an Indexer |
We were psyched about the fact that we only have an hour left to index. We asked for the assessment sheets at the SLIS Faculty and it was then that we discovered that Ma'am Annie from the cataloging section wanted us to do some more things before she assess us. Even though our required hours were fulfilled, we still had to commit an hour to fill up the Excel sheets of the theses we cataloged. She also said that she would be giving us homework to do that we should answer in a week. Now I feel like I have not really accomplished anything yet because we still had some things to deal with before she will assess us. We cannot do anything about it so we just said yes to the tasks.

What shall my subjects be? |
After our lunch time, the remaining hour seems to pass by so slowly. My final magazine was an Animal Scene issue which I have a learned a lot from. Another thing I picked up from this internship was I was able to realize just how vast the Library of Congress subject heading really was. After I indexed the last article of that issue, it was already three minutes past 2PM. We opted to leave but not before giving our assessment sheets to Ma'am Judith and bidding farewell to everyone in the Serials section.
I have to say I really enjoyed the work I have done at this section.
Let's just hope it doesn't haunt us back like the Cataloging section. Just kidding!
