THE WEEK THREE RAP

June 25, 2018 - Monday

The third week of the internship started quite uneventful as I was only tasked to digitize books the entire day. By the end of it, I was able to digitize two entire books which I felt proud of. The highlight of that Monday was that we had a new intern handling research and social media that is studying in Paris. Another classmate from SLIS would be beginning the next day so I was pretty much excited about that. The other thing is that I was able come home early today. For the past two weeks I have been going home about 8-9 PM but that day I was able to go home 6PM.

New week, new tasks!

June 26, 2018 - Tuesday

The next day was similar in that I really wasn't tasked to do much. I continued digitizing the WWII collection throughout the entire day. I was able to finish at least another two books by the end of the day. Once again, I was able to go home early. However I noticed that it was getting quite fast, the internship, I mean. It seemed like only a week ago when we started and now were on our penultimate week.

June 27, 2018 - Wednesday

Wednesday came along and for the first half, I continued with my scanning until the second half when I was tasked to catalog  vertical files using KOHA. It was my first time seeing the interface for KOHA which is why I was sort of uncomfortable but after being taught and being used to it, I was able to catalog my very first item. I continued to do so until the end of my shift.

June 28, 2018 - Thursday

For Thursday, I continued cataloging with KOHA. However this time, it seemed faster probably because I was already familiar with its interface. I managed to nearly complete all the vertical files of one series title which I consider quite an accomplishment.

June 29, 2018 - Friday

Next comes Friday, continuing with the same task I was doing the previous day. I consider this day my most productive day so far. I don't know what got into me but I suddenly became faster in cataloging. What I expected to be a whole day's worth of cataloging, I was able to accomplish in nearly half a shift. I finished cataloging all vertical files! It seemed impossible days before but I did it. Days seemed to go by so fast as I returned to scanning until the end of the shift, concluding Friday's event. Like a rap song, things went by quickly but not that fast! Jasmine and I decided to  go to work Saturday in order to finish the internship immediately.

Speeding through the vertical files!
June 30, 2018 - Saturday

Saturday morning had no traffic which was a surprising delight. The day went on with me picking up where I left off: scanning serials. I continued with this task the entire day until the end of the shift arrived. IT'S OFFICIAL! Next week would be our very last. I was excited for the conclusion of this endeavor because I can finally sleep in late again but I do know that I will also miss this once it's over.

Oh well, I can't do anything about it. The best I can do is enjoy the remaining hours because I did learn a lot
